MAMETZ WOOD FROM THE DRAGON MEMORIAL

This photograph depicts that portion of Mametz Wood which was attacked by the 13^th, 14^th, 15^th & 16^th battalions of the Royal Welch Fusiliers of the 38^th (Welsh) Division as they descended from the cliff across Happy Valley on 10^th July 1916. The people are watching a re-enactment of that attack in 1996. The tip of the Dragon memorial can just be seen.
