The Last Post at the Menin Gate
31st October 2002
Ever since 1928, (except for a period during the Second World War), at eight oclock every night, members of the local Fire Brigade have sounded the Last Post at the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres (Ieper). The number of buglers on duty varies from two, or perhaps, as in this case seven. They honour the memory of those soldiers from Britain and the then British Empire who died in the Ypres Salient and have no known grave.
